Superfood Matcha-Cacao Energy Balls – Full-Keto Edition
By Keith Dorsette obo Celebrate Health
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve walked through the snack aisle meaning to be disciplined… only to get hypnotized by something bright, crunchy, and guaranteed to make me feel like trash an hour later. That little dopamine pop is real. Five minutes of comfort, and then boom—my body’s stuck paying a toll I don’t remember crossing. I hate that bill.
So I started a little ritual. I’ll pick up my old problem snack, feel that familiar brain-tingle, and then deliberately put it back. Sometimes I’ll even buy it, take one bite, and throw the rest away. Sounds wild, but that tiny sting—the ROI pain of tossing something I just paid for—breaks the spell. In my mind, it’s a breakup. And every breakup needs that “yeah, I’m done” moment.
Meanwhile, during years of OMAD and intermittent fasting, I built a stash of ingredients that actually treat me right—energy, clarity, no crash, no guilt. I kept mixing, testing, tweaking… determined to create something that hits the craving without wrecking the plan.
And finally? I created something so nutrient-dense, so keto-friendly, and so fire that you could legit see it in a boutique health café for $8 a ball.
So now I’m sharing it with you—my superfood keto-friendly energy ball (pause).
Because yes… we’re saying that with full Gen-Z-certified confidence.
This is the kind of snack that makes quitting junk easy, not painful.
You’re not depriving yourself.
You’re upgrading yourself.
Let’s build this ball. 💚🍫
(Strict-keto approved · <6 g net carbs · no oats · insanely delicious)
Makes 16 fat-bomb balls (one ball = perfect keto snack or mini-meal)
Ingredients
- ¾ cup fine blanched almond flour (≈75 g)
- 1 tsp psyllium husk powder (helps binding & boosts fiber)
- 3 small–medium Medjool dates, pitted (≈45–50 g total – just enough stickiness)
- 6 Tbsp cashews (≈50 g)
- 6 Tbsp walnuts (≈45 g)
- 4 Tbsp virgin coconut oil, melted
- 2 Tbsp MCT oil (C8 or C8/C10)
- 1 Tbsp coconut cream (thick part from chilled can)
- 2 Tbsp pumpkin seeds
- 2 Tbsp hemp seeds
- 2 Tbsp chia seeds
- 2 Tbsp spirulina powder
- 1 Tbsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder
- 1 Tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds (raw or lightly toasted)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp sea salt (don’t skip – makes everything pop)
- Optional sweetness: ½–1 tsp monk-fruit/stevia blend or 5–10 drops liquid stevia (taste dough and adjust)
Instructions
- Put everything in a food processor.
- Process 1–3 minutes, scraping sides once or twice, until it forms a thick, slightly oily dough that holds together when pressed.
- Roll into 16 tight balls (≈32–35 g each).
- Chill 60 minutes to firm up.
- Highly recommended: Bake at 350 °F (175 °C) for 25–30 minutes until golden and crisp on the outside – this step is magic.
- Cool completely. Store in a glass jar in the fridge (up to 2 weeks) or freezer (3+ months).
Texture & Taste
Baked version → crispy nutty shell, fudgy matcha-chocolate center with sesame crunch. Tastes like an upscale 90 % dark-chocolate matcha truffle.

Pro Tips
- Want them even lower? Drop the 3 dates entirely and add ½ tsp more monk-fruit + 1 extra tsp psyllium → 3 g net carbs.
- Roll a few in crushed freeze-dried raspberries or extra cacao for variety.
This is now a true keto upkeep staple – keep a jar in the fridge and you’ll never be tempted by junk again.
Make a double batch. You’ll thank yourself all week. 💚🍫
